Te Wānanga o Raukawa

Futureworks have provided a significant amount of Audio Visual technology and integration services into Te Wananga o Raukawa. These spaces include interlinking tertiary teaching style areas which can be stand alone or multi-purpose.

The project brief for Te Wananga o Raukawa covered AV consultancy, design, procurement, implementation, control systems configuration and programming. Ongoing support across classrooms and lecture theatres.

The main lecture theatre at Te Wananga o Raukawa is also a working Marae where carvings with cultural significance reside throughout. A lot of attention had to be paid to respecting the culture within this space particularly when it came to mounting hardware from walls and ceilings. One such instance of this was the large projection screen at the front of the lecture theatre/ Marae. An unbroken carving runs right down the centre along the ceiling of the space. There was a preference for the screen to retract into the ceiling out of sight when not in use meaning Futureworks had to engineer a system where by the central carving opens, the screen box comes down prior to the screen unravelling and the carving then closes – this system works in reverse when it’s time for the screen to retract.

This was no easy feat and the success of this was attributed to the knowledge and skill of the Futureworks team.
